A proposal for the AACP Public Health SIG was submitted for approval consideration to the AACP Board of Directors in September 2008. The Public Health SIG was approved by the Board at the October 2008 Board of Directors meeting. This Public Health SIG will provide the Academy with a needed focus on public health tenets and the means and methods for the Academy, the profession of pharmacy, and pharmacists to play continuing and future roles dealing with the myriad of opportunities for involvement in public health issues and challenges along with other health professional organizations, health profession teaching programs and fellow health professionals.
