The American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education has named Ellen Woods as President and CEO, effective May 1. Ellen previously served in key development positions in the arts and health sectors, including her work at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Epilepsy Foundation. AFPE provides substantial support for predoctoral fellows pursuing Ph.D.s in the pharmaceutical sciences. Historically, AFPE has also funded the New Investigator Award Program (now funded by AACP) and a pipeline program to encourage student pharmacists to consider research careers. President Woods will participate in the 2013 AACP Annual Meeting including making brief remarks at the First House of Delegates Session and Council of Deans Business Meeting.

The AACP Board of Directors is seeking candidates for service on the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors. A subcommittee of the AACP Board of Directors will make their recommendation to the full AACP Board at the November 2013 meeting. The appointee will observe both the January and June 2014 meetings of ACPE and will begin the six-year term in July 2014.
