“The large number of applicants we had for this program in its inaugural year shows students are eager for the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills for community-based practice,” said Shelby Jensen, Pharm.D., program co-lead and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, and Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. “Community-based pharmacy is the front door to our profession. I am excited to have led the development of this program, which will help graduates navigate the rapidly changing landscape of community-based pharmacy practice.”
The student scholars were selected from over 100 submissions and represent 50 schools and colleges of pharmacy across the nation. In their applications, students highlighted their passion for serving as leaders and healthcare providers in their communities. The inaugural cohort begins the program on Monday, Dec. 18 with a virtual kick-off meeting.
