Student Pharmacists Selected for 2024 Summer Research Mentorship Exchange Program; Five Receive AFPE Scholarships

AACP is pleased to announce that the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) of will continue its support of the Social and Administrative Sciences (SAS) Section Summer Research Exchange Mentorship Program awards for summer 2024. As in past years, five highly meritorious program participants were further selected to receive $2,500 stipends from AFPE. The Research Exchange Mentorship program supports student pharmacists as they pursue research with host mentors outside of their home institutions. The scholarship recipients for 2024 are:

The SAS Research Exchange Mentorship Program is intended to foster interest in research and SAS-related graduate education among student pharmacists. The program is open to P1-P3 students, who complete a research experience with a SAS faculty member outside their home institution, building their professional network and skills for residency, fellowship, and further graduate studies.

Over the past seven years, the program has recruited student pharmacists to participate in summer research projects with mentors outside their home school. Through a competitive selection process, more than 100 students have been paired with mentors to engage in research projects and communicate their research results. Participants have presented their work at conferences and published journal articles based on their projects. The 2023 cohort of 23 student pharmacists from 19 pharmacy schools will work with 9 mentors at 7 pharmacy schools.
