Strategies for Engaging Community Partners, Healthcare Professionals, and Students: Research Experiences from Four Institutions

This program was initially accepted for presentation at the 2020 Annual Meeting.


This session will include faculty from four Colleges/Schools of Pharmacy sharing experiences with CDC-sponsored grants to develop innovative strategies to address diabetes, heart disease and stroke prevention/management. Speakers will share experiences regarding: 1) engaging community partners (state/local health departments, state/national associations), 2) collaborating with healthcare providers, 3) incorporating students in grant activities, and 4) incorporating innovations in pharmacy curricula. Target audiences include: Social and Administrative Sciences, Pharmacy Practice, Continuing Professional Development and Experiential Education Sections.

Objectives:

  1. Identify strategies for engaging diverse community partners (state/local health departments, state national associations, payer groups).
  2. Identify strategies for interprofessional collaborations including incorporation of telehealth.
  3. Discuss strategies for incorporating students in grant/scholarship activities and innovations in curricula that emerged from grant activities.
