Hosted by the Global Education SIG
Pharmacists have a critical responsibility to work towards improved health equity both globally and locally. Within the United States, two key agencies responsible for advancing the public and global health agendas include the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and the United States Agency on International Development (USAID). The purpose of this webinar is to familiarize faculty at US Schools/Colleges of Pharmacy with opportunities for pharmacists within the USPHS and USAID, focusing both on training (internships, residencies, fellowships) and career paths. Presenters will provide an overview of these opportunities as well as strategies to support pharmacy trainees in these career paths.
Objectives
- Identify training opportunities, including internships, residencies, and fellowships within the USPHS and USAID.
- Describe the varied roles and responsibilities of pharmacists within the USPHS and USAID.
- Identify the role of faculty in supporting the development of student pharmacists in their involvement with USPHS and USAID.
