This webinar discusses the design and implementation of dosage forms-based patient problem-solving sessions for first-year pharmacy students. In these sessions, concepts of dosage forms and drug delivery are applied in the context of systematic patient problem-solving using the PPCP. The roles of individuals, teams, facilitators, scaffolding and critical thinking will be included in the discussion.
Objectives
- Describe how the PPCP can be employed by first-year pharmacy students, with appropriate guidance and scaffolding, to explain and resolve medication-related problems.
- Describe dosage forms and administration considerations for resolving medication-related problems for a patient with dysphagia, a patient with a G-tube, and a patient with COPD
- Describe how individuals and teams can make their problem-solving and critical thinking visible in PCPP-base problem-solving exercises.
- Describe an approach for multi-campus facilitation of PPCP-based problem-solving exercises.
- Develop an appreciation for how pharmaceutics fits into the overall framework of patient care, with a glimpse into its role in professional identity formation.
