Research and Practice
Hosted by the Geriatric Pharmacy SIG
As diverse populations live longer lives, the need for DEIA in the practice and scholarship of aging has become crucial. While DEIA principles and practices are gaining traction in society at large, the path to applying these principles to the care of older generations is not always as clear. Even more challenging can be designing research that is diverse and equitable in every facet from planning to execution. Participants in this webinar will learn frameworks for applying DEIA principles from experts in DEIA in aging research and clinical practice.
Objectives
- Identify disparities in care of older adults in the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Describe a framework for gender identity and sexual orientation and their intersectionality with age.
- Discuss methods used in community-based aging research to inculcate DEIA principles.
