Hosted by the Laboratory Instructors SIG.

The Laboratory Instructors SIG is pleased to showcase the LITE award finalists in this webinar. Our winner will discuss the PharmTutorAI.com platform that was developed by Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy. This program was used in skills laboratory courses for all three cohorts. The PharmTutorAI.com platform covers patient counseling, SOAP note practice, vaccine recommendations, medication reconciliation, as well as, geriatric and cardiology patient case scenarios.

Our honorable mention awardee will also share their delivery of a discovery-based learning activity designed to familiarize P2 student pharmacists with the Pharmacists' Patient Care Process (PPCP) and enhance their skills in identifying medication-related problems (MRPs) through a real-time patient case simulation.

Objectives:

  • Describe PharmTutorAI.com use in skills laboratory courses.
  • Utilize PharmTutorAI.com as a student completing one exercise.
  • Discuss future options with PharmTutorAI.com and incorporation of AI cases in participants’ institutions.
  • Define the principles of productive failure and discovery learning.
  • Describe how the pedagogical principles of productive failure and discovery learning can be integrated into the skills laboratory setting for effective skill development.
