AFPE Implementation Science Scholar Award

AACP Resource

Thank you for your interest in the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE) Implementation Scholar Award for individuals who participated in the AACP workshop Implement – Implementation Science for Transforming Pharmacy Practice and Education. The purpose of this award is to support workshop participants in the further planning of and preparation for an implementation science research project. Goals for the award could include furthering your growth as an implementation researcher, advancing preparation of a funding proposal, or helping establish the necessary partnerships for a project. All participants in the February 18 workshop are welcome to apply for an Implementation Scholar Award, even if they didn’t submit a project idea for discussion at the workshop.

Selection for the award is based on a competitive application process. The application provides information about your implementation science research project idea and outlines your plan for using the award for professional development and/or other activities that will support planning and preparation for your project. We encourage individuals with varying levels of implementation science research experience to apply. The project information and relevant background provided should allow evaluation of the project’s significance and contribution to your continued development as an implementation researcher. The detail and sophistication of the project information should reflect your experience and the project’s maturity. The award plan should be appropriate for your level of experience in implementation science research and likely to advance project planning and preparation.

Applications are due Monday, May 15.

AFPE anticipates making two (2) $2500 awards. Award notifications are expected to be made by early July 2023, with award start dates no later than October 1, 2023.

Eligibility: The award is open to individuals who are faculty or staff at a pharmacy school and participated in the AACP workshop Implement – Implementation Science for Transforming Pharmacy Practice and Education on February 18, 2023. An individual must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to receive funding from AFPE.

The application cycle for the CVS Health / AACP Community Pharmacy Health Equity Award for Student Pharmacists program is now closed. Meet the recipients of the 2023 scholarship.

Program Information

The CVS Health / AACP Community Pharmacy Health Equity Award for Student Pharmacists will be awarded to 21 outstanding student pharmacists who face financial barriers in their pursuit of education including, but not limited to those who identify as an underrepresented minority student, a student with a disability, or a student with a previous or current military service to include national guard and reserves. Each awardee will receive a single $20,000 scholarship.

Goal of the Program

CVS Health and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) believe, jointly, that pharmacists and student pharmacists have a professional obligation to advocate on behalf of patients and the profession of pharmacy. The Oath of a Pharmacist reads in part: I will embrace and advocate changes that improve patient care. The CVS Health / AACP Community Pharmacy Health Equity Award is intended to support students from backgrounds who will advocate for the needs of patients in underserved communities, the profession, and the public, both within and outside healthcare settings. The purpose of the scholarship is to reduce financial barriers for eligible student pharmacists in pursuit of a PharmD degree who are committed to advocating for health equity and the well-being of individual patients in communities across the United States.

USNWR Contact Information Request

AACP Resource

U.S. News and World Report (USNWR) surveys colleges and schools of pharmacy every 3 years for institutional ranking information.  While members of the AACP Council of Deans (COD) and staff are working with USNWR on potential future revisions of the pharmacy school ranking criteria, the 2023 USNWR survey and ranking process for pharmacy schools will not change.  To assist USNWR with administrators and staff to contact for the 2023 survey, AACP is requesting that every CEO Dean provide four (4) contacts at their college/school of pharmacy.  AACP will provide this information directly to USNWR for their pharmacy school survey distribution and follow-up.  Please complete the information below for the 2023 USNWR pharmacy school survey contacts by Friday, August 18, 2023.  AACP staff will follow-up with any college or school of pharmacy that does not provide this information by the requested deadline.
